I am posting this for all of you who know my sister Patti and her husband Kevin --
Yesterday my brother-in-law in Tucson, Kevin, had a miracle...not one mind you, but many! Kevin does not enjoy getting out of bed. The Lord must have moved him, because he got to work at 7:00 a.m. yesterday! As he walked into the lobby of work he had a massive heart attack and fell lacerating his head as he went down. The medic team on staff at his work was there in seconds (another miracle). They were on him with CPR, etc... so he had no oxygen loss to the brain. As he was being airvaced via helicopter he started to code again and they diverted from UMC (U of A hospital) to the one 2 miles away in Oro Valley.
Patti was in Utah for spring break meeting Lisa's newest baby when Kevin's work called Patti. Ashley and Nathan had gone on up to Pocatello ID to be with Grandparents for a week. Wow! Things kicked into gear. The folks in Idaho were on their way to Lisa's in SLC with kids so they could drive Patti's van back to Tucson. Patti was on a plane by early afternoon. I hear someone at the airport when they heard why Patti had to be on the plane gave up their seat for her. Another blessed miracle with a packed plane!
In the meantime, my Mom was headed to Tucson. Patti's neighbor Julie was a huge blessing from waking Michelle (asleep at home) to helping mom retrieve Kevin's car from work, etc. She is a cardiac nurse and could translate lingo for Mom.
Bishop Smith and Bro. Rorden (Patti & Kevin's home teacher) gave him a blessing at the hospital.
When the doctors realized Kevin's head wound was still oozing blood, they backed him off the blood thinners, which caused a 3rd heart attack. As they had to intebate (sp?) Kevin he fought them and tried pulling out tubes. The doctors then put him into a medical induced coma. At least they know no neurological damage! Another miracle! Julie was able to pick Patti up at the airport and take her straight to the hospital.
This morning he is doing well, breathing well, oxygen levels great. At noon they are weaning the balloon pump from helping his heart. It is inside his chest placed in an aorta, and maybe tomorrow letting him out of the coma.
Ashley & Nathan and grandparents stayed at Steven's home last night in Vegas. They will arrive this afternoon.
What a miracle modern medicine is. It is so obvious that Kevin was in the Lord's hands for everything to work the way it has. I am so thankful for the invention of cell phones, text messaging, emails, etc... that we used to communicate with all the family and friends. Running a phone command center is exhausting...but can you imagine the worry of what was happening without airplanes, phones, etc??? I am truly thankful!
Patti told me this morning that either Saturday or Sunday (depending on how he is doing) he will leave ICU and move into the Cardiac Unit. His color is very good this morning!

This is what it looked like with kids pulling the handcarts with their family gear in it. Looks like Ma and Pa are walking behind.
Here is our 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric, Chris & Stephanie Walker. They were Ma and Pa for a small group. (The semi brought in the handcarts and they then had to be assembled the day before the trek.) They look happy and so in love! I think this was before the Trek started!
This is Connie & Wayne George (my sister and brother-in-law). Wayne is one of the Young Men Counselors in our Stake that helped plan and organize it all. I think they look cold! Look at that awesome Arizona sunset!
I find this next photo very interesting...modern world TENTS
After the bulk of the hiking, they had planned activities for the youth. These activities gave them a chance to see what life was like in the "Pioneer Days" and how to build team work (work together as a family). Some were very spiritual and some just fun!
The trek lasted from 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday to about noon on Saturday. When Curtis got home, all he wanted was a shower! I would have hated being dirty so long. One thing Curtis mentioned was that all the boys started noticing how beautiful the girls were without any makeup. They could actually see their real face! -- even if they were in bonnets and dirt. A big thanks goes to all who helped this event...Curtis said it was fabulous!

We all went to lunch together. We even stopped in to see my parent's friends Les & Connie Reynolds and their place in Yuma. Was a nice day...long road trip...but it gave us a chance to visit in the car! Dad even stopped at Dateland, Arizona. I always just drove past it. Dad bought us a "Date Shake". I had never heard of it before, but it was yummy! Mine had strawberries, bananas and dates all blended together. If you ever take the I-8 towards Yuma it is about 50 minutes east of Yuma on the south side of the I-8. 
Here is Ridge, he turned 1 in January. Tonight was the first time I saw him WALKING! He was fascinated with the VCR and kept trying to put his hand in it. Grandpa finally put heavy books in front of it. They he was directed to the cable box! He knew the word "no". He would go back and say "No" and then grab it. Too funny! You just want to snuggle him.
This is our Tytan. He is 2 1/2. When Grandpa asked him how old he was he said,"1, 2". Good enough. He knows his letters and the sounds! I had some letter cookies and he would say here is a "t" and then say "ta for Tytan". Meggan works with him and said her goal is to have him start reading by this fall. Meggan knows the Montesorri method and taught in a Montessori (sp?) school before she married Peter.

Here is mom, Betty, standing by her car in our driveway. It is so sporty compared to what they have ever driven. Way to go mom and dad!
Here is a photo of my dad, Larry, on the left with Lloyd on the right. We got to talking about their cousin "Andy Gibb". I didn't know it, but they were telling me how Andy was dating Victoria Principle from "Dallas TV" show. When they split, that is when Andy overdosed on drugs and died. Lloyd plays the guitar. My dad plays the banjo, ukelea, and other instruments. Gibb men are very talented! For those of you who don't know...here is a piece of trivia. Their grandfather Leroy Gibb had a brother (I don't remember his name). They lived in England. Leroy decided to migrate to America via SLC and then on to Alberta. The brother decided to go to Australia. The brother to Leroy is the grandfather of the BeeGees. We are all related!.JPG)
There are only my dad, Lloyd, Keith, Don and their sister Norma left out of the 13 kids! They were all born in Del Bonita, Alberta, Canada. Now that is probably more than you wanted to know! But I had a great evening with stories!
While Ashley was sewing...I interviewed Nathan so he could complete his Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge. He did a great project at Carden School in Tucson among other activities for this badge. It is great seeing another future Eagle Scout in the progress! He should be Life by the end of April! Woo Hoo Nathan!

Here is Brannick and Emily Adams coming out of the Mesa Temple. They have a great story. She is an RN graduate from BYU. Brannick has been in private Dental practice in Roseburg Oregon for 3 1/2 years. They met through the internet. They are so perfect for each other. 
Here they are at the luncheon. It was at the Landmark Restaurant in Mesa. Terrific food!
What a terrific day! A lot of grateful tears and smiles!
