Gibb Mountain

Gibb Mountain
There is this huge hill across the street from my parents' home. Ever since they have lived there we have called it "Gibb Mountain".  My dad has spent hours making trails out in the desert. He removes the rocks from the trails and uses them to line the walkway so you can see an actual path to hike. Horses and people from his area all use his paths. As the great grandkids have now started hiking Gibb Mountain and these trails, they each want to know where their special spot is. So dad has named some of them as: Carter's Campgroung, Jaycie Junction, Haven's Island, Christian Crossing, etc...  So as we are out hiking, which ever child is with we go to their "named place" and talk about how great they are and their name sake!
So recently we have made two trips to Gibb Mountain.

At the end of my dad's driveway he has place checkerboard tiles. So it is either the start line or finish line depending on what you are doing. So above is the start of the hike!
My dad's dog, Ochie, will only let kids near her. Amazing enough she will let Haley hold her. Makes everyone jealous! We are standing on one of the trails and Haley is letting Ochie rest from the hike.

We made it to the top! Even 3 year old Noelle. Notice how she is holding my hand, so I don't fall!
A couple of weeks later, we took Jason's two youngest out for the hike. Here we are at Carter's Campground. He is so proud of this spot. One day his dad is suppose to take him camping here.

We have been to the top and heading back down. Curtis took our picture while he and Carter were still on the peak. Behind us you can see going horizontally one of the paths dad has made. They are all over the desert there. The other thing the kids love is Curtis is into rocks. The kids know it and ask him every few feet, what rock is that? What rock is that?  He often gets left with the child most interested in knowing "what rock is that?"

We have lots of fun hiking together.
